How long is Forever?
By: Hun-Knee-123
Summary: Dark/Riku, Daisuke/Riku (how could it be anything else?) Niwa and Riku are getting married, Riku is freaking out, Daisuke is worried, Dark is freaking out, Risa is tripping, you know the drill. Riku must decide who she will share her life with. (Dark and Niwa are separate people.)
**Flashback**
“Riku?” the shy boy stared at his hands, underneath the café table. “Yes, Daisuke?” Riku looks worried. Sighing heavily, the auburn haired boy gets up, and bends down, next to her. “Riku Harada, will you please… make me the happiest of men, and marry me?” he had went over and over in his mind, what he would say, and it came out perfectly, like a dream, but this was real. Her mouth was ajar. “Of course, Daisuke Niwa!” they embraced.

“Oh Riku. You look so pretty.” Risa cooed, as she drowned her sisters head in hairspray. “… Thanks.” the caramel haired girl blushed, and grinned in spite of herself. She had 2 hours before the wedding, too much time, if you asked her. “I really like the dress…” Riku admitted shyly. “Riku Harada, approving of a dress, never would have saw the day!” Risa giggled, pushing Riku in front of the wall length mirror. She gasped. Who was that girl? Not her, never! The dress had no straps, and the bosom was embroidered in tiny diamond studs. It was long, and white, and flowed at the bottom, she had to admit, it was drop dead gorgeous, even on her. “I guess your ready… something old (Risa pointed at their great grandmothers charm bracelet), something new ( she patted the dress), something borrowed (their mothers pearl earrings.) and something blue! (she then placed her hand on the ribbon in her twin sisters hair.) Yep, that’s everything!” Risa smiled, she was so happy. Her sister, and her good friend, getting married at last… but who would have thought Riku would have beat Risa to the altar? “Hey Risa… do you think I could have some time alone?” Riku muttered, sitting down on the windowsill. Risa’s face took one of immediate concern. “Okay… just don’t do anything stupid, Riku.” she then walked out, shutting the door lightly behind her. For a moment, Riku sat in silence.
**Flashback**
“Riku.” his violet tresses fell into his eyes, haloing his face. “Yes Dark?” He suddenly looked shy, his automatic smirk fleeing his face. “Do you love me?” a million things flooded thru her mind. She did love him! But what if it was a trick? A test? What if she said yes, and he left her, she was just a sport?! Finally, after a short silence she answered. “Yes.” he smiled, she smiled, then blushed. “I love you too.”
**End of Flashback**
“…Dark…” she had invited him to the wedding, him being Daisuke’s best friend, and an old companion of her own. He had sent an RSVP, saying he would be there. Oh, Dark! She had loved him, before Daisuke Niwa. She had knew him, before Daisuke as well. They were childhood friends, and then, sweet hearts.
**Flashback**
“Dark?” it was quiet, at his house. “Hmm?” he asked drowsily. “I’m glad I’m at your sleepover.” she said, smiling an innocent 6 year old smile. “Me too.” he said, his violet eyes fluttering open. Suddenly, there came a rumbling sound from his parents room. Riku gasped. “What was that?” she asked cowering slightly. “Daddy and Mommy are fighting again.” he said, his eyes full of fear. “They promised they wouldn’t, not on my birthday…” he whined, a tear trickling down his pale, flawless cheek. “Its okay Dark. I’m here, we don’t have to sleep. We can play.” she comforted him, grabbing a toy dinosaur. “Okay…” he whispered, taking his own toy, and began to make the thing jump around. In their joy, the children momentarily forgot about the fighting adults, until “BAM!” they both cried out. “What was that?” Riku asked, as she had jumped over, closer to Dark. “I don’t know…” he whispered, beginning to cry again. “Lets go check on your mommy and daddy, okay?” she pulled him up, and they left his room. Silently, they padded across the living room, and came to his parents door, which was shut. “Lets go in.” she said, opening the door. Simultaneously, the children screamed. There, lying on the bed, was his mother, and his father, both, lying in pool of blood, dead. For what seemed like hours, they stared, until Riku grabbed Darks hand. “Lets go to my house, Dark” she pulled him out of his house, crying, as they made their way across the empty street, and into the Harada home. As they were both set in Riku’s bedroom, her parents calling the police, Dark spoke. “Riku.” “What?” “I love you.” “I love you too Dark. You’re my bestest friend.” “Your mine too. Never leave me.” “I wont.”
**End of Flashback**
Riku brushed away a tear. She loved Dark, and she loved Daisuke. But… who did she love in that special way? Daisuke was so calm, and sweet, and shy and gentle… Dark was so different. He was loquacious, and confident, he was such a play boy, he never thought twice about what he did! So… why… did she fall in love with both boys, how?
**Flashback**
It had been a month since Dark and Riku had split up, they were both 16. At the Harada family barbecue, Riku introduced Dark to her new boyfriend Daisuke Niwa. “Hey Dark! Riku, I already know him. He‘s like my best friend.” he held his hand out to shake Darks. “Daisuke, your dating Riku?” but he didn’t shake his hand, instead he sent him a death glare. Riku looked adoringly at Daisuke, and Dark felt the sudden urge to punch him till he cried for mercy. He tightened his fists. “Yea.” he said. “I didn’t know you guys went out… you never said anything, Riku. You either, Dark.” Daisuke grinned at the coincidence. “It was just for a little while.” Riku assured the auburn haired boy. “Actually, it was 3 years straight, just a little while.” Dark shot at her, jealousy surging through him. “Whatever.” she said, hurriedly walking over to her sister Risa, and engaging in a conversation, undoubtedly about Risa’s dress.
“Riku sure is something else…” Daisuke sighed. “Yea… Daisuke… lay off, okay?” Dark said, staring at Riku. “What?” “Lay off Riku. I still have a thing for her, you know?” Dark admitted. Daisuke was silent for a while. “You’re my best friend, Dark… but… no way am I letting Riku go. Why would a girl like that, like a guy like me? I’m hanging onto her as long as I can.” Daisuke sighed, gazing at her also. With a growl, Dark punched his best friend. Riku flipped her head, just in time to see his fist greet Niwa’s face. “Don’t!” she cried. Soon, the boys were pounding each other. Dark was getting in more licks than his smaller companion, but Daisuke’s punches had more impact on Dark. Eventually, Daisuke was on top, pounding Dark! Having enough, Riku walked over, and pushed Daisuke off of him. “Stop it.” she hissed looking at Dark, he was in worse shape than Daisuke! “Dark?” she whispered, as he closed his eyes in defeat. “Dark?” her voice became distant. “…Dark?”
**End of Flashback**
Riku stared out the window, gazing upon the lake, and the enormous willow tree, she and Daisuke would be taking pictures under later that day. Oh my god! She gasped, was she getting cold feet?! … No! She wanted to spend forever with Daisuke!… But, how long was forever? Suddenly, her face flushed, and a cold sweat came over her. She couldn’t do it! She couldn’t get married, not now! Desperately, she pushed the window open, but it was stubborn, and she began to struggle. “Riku?” Risa was knocking on the door. “Oh god!” Riku shouted, pushing the window up, as Risa entered. “No Riku!” she screamed, as Riku dropped out of the window. Not knowing what to do, she screamed, “RIKU IS RUNNING, RIKU IS RUNNING SHES RUUUUUNNNNNIIINNNNNGGGGGG!!!!!” Dark, who was just getting out of his car looked up at the sound, to see the caramel haired girl, racing, in her white wedding gown away from the church. “She’s a run away bride!” he whispered. Guest were filing out of the church, including Daisuke, and Risa, who were racing after her, and gaining. “Stupid shoes!” she said momentarily stopping to kick them off, picking up the bottom of the dress, and high tailing it out of there. “Riku! Riku!” Daisuke cried, as he realized he couldn’t catch her.
Dark followed Riku, inconspicuously. She finally stopped running, and dropped down beneath a tangle of trees. She was crying. “I’m sorry Daisuke… I’m so so so sorry…” she whispered. “I cant marry you Daisuke.” she said, as if he were there. Suddenly, Dark came into her mind. “Dark… I want to marry Dark.” his eyes lit up. “Riku.” he whispered. She jerked her head up. “Dark.” she stood up, and smiled. He smiled.
Okay, I’m done, wow, I didn’t think I’d finish!
